Saara Ratilainen is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Helsinki, Aleksanteri Institute. She received her PhD in Russian Language and Culture at the University of Tampere. She is a scholar of post-Soviet culture and media. Her research topics range from Russian print media and online fan cultures to the transformation of Russian cultural institutions and feminist critique of communication technologies. In this project, Ratilainen investigates the reception of Russian female writers from the perspective of digitalization of the literary institution, focusing on the role of bloggers and online forums as literary gatekeepers.
